Maz's bacon and cabbage

I made it today and the bacon was sooooooooooooooooooo tender. Scott didn't have the cabbage bit as he doesn't like that and then he said he didn't like the bacon, funny how he ate it all and he had a big pile of it.

Cliff said it was lovely but he would have liked it with more veg and his yorkshire puddings. Oh and he missed his gravy LOL. Think it was a success anyway cos it all got eaten.

Like a storm hun ..... cost me a fortune too cos I had to buy a new big pan ..... they all ate loads and there's still some bacon left for me for supper tomorrow - you Irish Bacon and Cabbage seems to have become a legend Mrs B xxxxxx

you will love it linda & its so easy.
YOU WILL NEED
NICE BACON JOINT
PLENTY OF NICE GREEN CABBAGE
PAN OF SPUDS
LARGE PAN
WASH CABBAGE WELL
WASH BACON JOINT
CUT CABBAGE INTO SLICES THEN TEAR IT UP
PUT A THICK LAYER OF CABBAGE INTO BOTTOM OF THE PAN
ADD BACON THEN PACK CABBAGE AROUNT THE JOINT ADD WATER THEN ADD REST OF CABBAGE TO COVER JOINT THEN LET IT SIMMER AWAY FOR A FEW HOURS BOIL SPUDS AND
MASH THEM WITH PLENTY OF BUTTER BLACK PEPPER AND SOME MILK TILL CREAMY
CUT BACON UP INTO SLICES PUT ON PLATE WITH MASH & CABBAGE BLOODY LOVELY MY MOUTH IS WATERING THINKING ABOUT IT LOL ENJOY YUMMY XXXXX

Thank you Maz, will try and give this a go at the weekend, it sounds scrummy ! Do I just add water up to the top level of the bacon otherwise all my cabbage will float away?.?

Not right to the top luv but dont strain the cabbage when you dish it up Just use a slotted spoon keeps it lovely & moist cant wait to see how it goes xxxx

Well Maz, made it today and it was a huge success ! John loved it and came back for seconds, the first time in ages he's done an "Oliver Twist " and asked for more. It really was delicious, very tender and the cabbage was tdf, full of flavour, thanks so much for sharing it, sure to become a family favourite !
